It was pretty cool to say the least.
The evening started with a special preview of the Koala Bears just as they were being fed. One of them was pretty active munching his dinner so it was pretty neat to watch him move around. The other one slept most of the time but did move a bit. After the sneak peak, we had a "Down Under" buffet dinner which included shrimp from the Bar-B and a full roasted pig. After dinner, the primary Koala zookeeper did a slideshow talk on the Koalas and the exchange program with San Diego - very cool. Then a little break for dessert & coffee and then the Koala veterinarian did a short talk on diseases that can harm Koalas and the daily/weekly care that the two visitors receive.
Overall, it was a fantastic birthday dinner. After hearing all about the Koalas, I'm now pretty keen to take the kids to the San Diego Zoo - a much shorter flight than Australia!!

Oh the San Diego zoo is so cool! We also went to Sea World when were there but I might skip that and try the Wild Animal Park next time as it's also run by the zoo. More of a focus on education about the animals than on entertainment.
