The flight to Mexico was pretty brutal - not something we will do again until the kids are older. Our flight left Calgary at 7pm which meant that we were at the airport for 4pm. The kids had fun running around the airport and then we had a bite to eat before boarding the plane. For the next 5 hours, two tired girls struggled to sleep while Alan & I struggled to help them calm down. Isabelle finally fell asleep about an hour before we landed but then we had to wake her up for the descent (so she could put on her seatbelt and sit up). Thankfully, we arrived on time and without delay, we boarded an air conditioned bus (now after 2am) and checked in without a problem. The original room that we requested was over-booked so they upgraded us to a nicer suite. The suite was beautiful and as Alan said, if we didn't have kids and I wasn't pregnant, it would be lots of fun. There was a 2 person jacuzzi tub, a sauna and a huge shower. The trade off, though, as we quickly found out, was that the new (larger) suite did not have a kitchen which meant no fridge, freezer or microwave. Luxury always comes at the price of something . . . .
After an unsettled sleep, everyone woke up ready to go. The first thing that the kids wanted to do after breakfast was go swimming so we spent much of the morning in the pool. After a short nap, the kids wanted to hit the playground so off we went to visit Fred, Barney & the Gang on the Flinstone's themed park. Although the playground was pretty cool and well suited to both the kids (ie. Kyla could play on almost all of it with little help), they much preferred the pool.
