Mexico - Day Seven

I think Saturday was the longest day of my life. It started bright & early with two little girls who barely slept 8 hours overnight and the knowledge that we had a late flight that night. We tried to carry on the day as usual and relax until it was time to go.

Check out time at the resort is usually noon. Because our tour group wasn't leaving until 10pm, we were given a late check-out time of 6pm. That still gave us 4 hours with nowhere to go and nothing to do. In the land of Mexico, though, anything is yours for a price. We talked to the front desk and for a small fee, were given an extended check-out to 10pm. It was great. We didn't have to pack until after dinner and the kids were able to nap late in the afternoon and then watch cartoons until it was time to go.

The kids both fell asleep waiting for the bus to arrive and slept all the way to the airport. They both also crashed while we waiting in the hour-long check-in line and while we waited for the plane. The plane left just after 2am and again, the kids slept much of the 5 hour flight home. Kyla was on my lap for the entire time and Isabelle spent most of the night sprawled across Alan so by the time we got home, we had declared a "Cartoon Movie Day" so that Alan & I could rest up a bit. Thankfully, everyone had a 3 hour nap and went to bed early so today, we are feeling as close to normal as you can get. Isabelle has this week off of school too and I bet Alan wishes he had the week off too!!
